Just to show that we keep our finger on all the big international news stories, recent press from North Korea says that a group of rebellious students were caught breaching social distancing rules, and having a birthday party, replete with alcohol and western music.
Fortunately, their neighbours did the right thing, and they have now been (probably) expelled from Kim Jong Suk University of Education in Hyesan.
“The students involved in the party have yet to be punished, although their school is considering expelling them,” one of the sources said. An undisclosed number of parents who were reportedly at the party were reportedly sentenced to “forced labour.”
Initially reported in Daily NK.
In other news, whilst “western publications” have been concerned about his health, according to the Korean Central News Agency (the official mouth piece of North Korea) Kim Jong Un, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, has been corresponding with world leaders, specifically President Bashar Al-Assad of Syria, Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez, president of the Republic of Cuba and Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, president of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
One wonders if they have a shared whatsapp group, or if when they are sat at home, they have long chats on facebook and zoom about the state of the nation?
